Building Transparency is partnering with cove.tool to integrate EC3 into the software provider’s platform of products and solutions, including analysis.tool, loadmodeling.tool, and revgen.tool.
With this integration, the cove.tool platform has achieved a major industry milestone – allowing users to simulate a complete carbon profile of a project. The in-app energy modeling engine provides the operational carbon metrics, while the EC3 integration supplies the necessary data for calculating embodied carbon, giving users a comprehensive carbon analysis for any project.
Embodied Carbon
Combined Operational and Embodied
Furthermore, with EC3 added to cove.tool’s automated structural estimation engine, users can
access carbon emissions data of building products to calculate and lower the embodied carbon
impact of their projects. The integration helps AEC professionals better communicate, establish
carbon reduction goals, track their progress toward them, and understand the opportunities for
further decarbonization.
How the integration works:
-
Users of cove.tool projects can upload their architectural geometry, create it using their free drawing.tool product or work with the manual geometry mode.
-
Once the geometry is ready, the structural automation feature estimates the required quantities of structural materials based on the user’s selection of system (mass timber, steel or concrete) and industry-standard structural engineering standards.
-
Additionally, through revgen.tool, building product manufacturers give architects, engineers and designers access to simulation tools to select low carbon products and simulate their impact directly in their project.
-
cove.tool accesses the global EC3 EPD database to find the contextual materials and automatically assigns them to the required quantities. This process saves users a significant amount of time, energy, and resources.
